Background
Once hailed as Colombia's largest prospective natural gas plant, the Nencol 5 power station (also known as Termo Induenergy) appeared for many years as a 2240 MW project on the Nencol website[6] and on the Colombian government's list of future power projects.[7]
However, as of October 2022 the Nencol 5 plant had been dropped from the government's lists of active projects[8] (after appearing on the September list[9]), and Nencol has subsequently removed all mention of the 2240 MW project from its website.[10]
As of October 2024, despite the target implementation date of January 2, 2025 still appearing on the UPME website[11], there had been no further news about the power plant for more than two years, implying that the project had been shelved.
