Background
An LNG terminal in Dongying has been proposed and included in Shandong Province Gas Storage Facilities Development Plan (2018-2020). [1]
However, the State Oceanic Administration has suspended the acceptance and review of reclamation plan for an onshore LNG terminal in Bohai Bay since May 2017.
A floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) proposal was raised and discussed in 2019.[2] As of 2021, there had been no further evidence for development, and it is considered shelved.
As of January 2024, there is no further news about the project. It is considered cancelled.
