Background

Ordos Power Qipanjing power station is a ten-unit coal-fired power plant totaling 1,960 MW in Mengxi Town. It was commissioned from 2005 to 2013, and is owned by Ordos Share Holding Group.[1]

An additional 2 x 600 MW may have been considered at the site,[2][3][4][5] but were presumed cancelled. Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at the location appeared to be on hold or cancelled. For details, see China's 2016 Restrictions on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity.
