Background

The first four coal-fired units of Huaneng Fuzhou power station – the two-unit Huaneng Fuzhou-1 and two-unit Huaneng Fuzhou-2 totaling 1,400 MW, were brought online between 1988 and 1999. The plant is owned by China Huaneng.[2]

In 2010, China Huaneng built two additional coal-fired units at this plant, Huaneng Fuzhou-3, with a total capacity of 1,320 MW.[3][4][5]

Units 1 and 2 appeared mothballed in 2022.[6]

Description of Expansion

In January 2021, an additional 700 MW unit was planned for commissioning in 2024, Huaneng Fuzhou-1R Unit 3.[7][8]

In 2023, with two years since the last known development, Huaneng Fuzhou-1R Unit 3 was presumed to be shelved.
