Background
Intergen is proposing to build Gateway near their existing Coryton power station. The development order permitted building up to 1700 MW of natural gas fuelled power generation, but the majority of the project seems to be shelved.[4][5] In 2021 the project applied for 299 MW of new generation in the T-4 Capacity Market 2024-2025 auction, but they were not listed in the final results.[6][7] This would qualify them for government subsidies to guarantee electricity supply.[8] It is unclear if financing depended on these subsidies.
Alongside the gas turbine, Intergen is proposing a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a rated electrical output of up to 1.3GWh (320MW).[9]
