Background

The Gaurain cement plant is the largest cement plant in France and the Benelux, and sources raw materials from the largest limestone quarry in Europe. The plant was previously owned by Italcementi, a subsidiary of HeidelbergCement, until 2016 when it was acquired by Cementir Holding. The plant also began co-processing waste in 1997.
