Background
Together with Siret-Khotyn Gas Pipeline, Gheraesti-Siret Gas Pipeline is a part of the Interconnector Romania - Ukraine project.
The pipeline is listed as the Romanian part of the "interconnection between the RO and the UA gas transmission systems" (TRA-N-596, TRA-N-502) in the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) 2020 Ten Year Network Development Plan. As of that plan's release, it was expected to be commissioned in 2025.[1]
In its 2018-2027 Network development plan, Transgaz stated that construction would begin in 2022, and the pipeline would begin operating in 2025.[11] However, the 2021-2030 iteration of that document stated that construction would begin in 2023, and the pipeline would begin to operate in 2026.[6]
However, there has been no forward progress on plans for the pipeline, which is not featured in ENTSOG's 2022 TYNDP.
