Background
The four existing subcritical coal-fired units of Guizhou Fa'er power station, totaling 2,400 MW, were brought online between 2007 and 2010. The total investment is about ¥10.5 billion.[1]
The first two units of the plant was invested and sponsored by Guizhou Jinyuan Group, which later became a subsidiary of CPI. In 2008, Fa'er Power Company was established to manage and develop the plant. The proportion of the investment is China Datang Guizhou Power Co: 51%; CPI Guizhou Jinyuan Group 42%; Yan Kuang Group Guizhou Energy & Chemical Industry Co: 7%. China Datang since then became the controlling shareholder of the plant. [1]
In 2005, the first two units were halted by 4 ministries of the Central Government, due to its Incomplete procedures and unapproved construction. [2]
The second phase of the power plant was permitted by NDRC in 2010.[3] In the same year it was reported that the four units were in non-compliance for their desulfurization technology.[4]
Description of Expansion
Datang apparently had plans to build two additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total capacity of 1,200 MW.[5]
However, there appear to be no other public sources of information about the units, and they appear to have been cancelled.
