Background on Plant (Units 1-6)

The six existing coal-fired units of Pingliang power station, totaling 2,520 MW, were brought online between 2000 and 2010. It appears to be the biggest power plant in Gansu Province.[1] The plant is owned by China Huaneng.[2][3]

Units 7-8 Expansion Plan

China Huaneng was planning for an additional 2 units with 1000MW each at this plant. It finished a preliminary feasibility study sometime before 2012.[4] However, there is no further news since then. The plan is likely abandoned.
