Background
Inaglinskiy Surface Coal Mine (Участок открытых горных работ Инаглинский) is a surface mine in Sakha Republic, Russia. The Inaglinsky coal mine is operated by GOK Inaglinskiy JSC, which is owned by Kolmar. It is part of the Inaglinsky Mining Complex (Инаглинский ГОК) which also includes Inaglinsky-1 coal mine and Inaglinsky-2 coal mine.
Construction of the Inaglinsky surface coal mine started in 2014, its current capacity is 2 million tonnes per annum.[14]
The Inaglinsky-1 washing plant opened in 2016.[14] The Inaglinsky-2 washing plant was commissioned in 2020.[15]
Over January-June 2022, the Inaglinsky Mining Complex (currently consisting of the the Inaglinsky Surface coal mine and Inaglinsky-1 coal mine) produced 3.4 million tonnes, this is almost double compared to the volumes over the same period in 2021.[16] Over 10 months of 2022, the surface mine Inaglinsky produced 1.1 million tonnes, 3% higher than in 2021.[17]
Complex
The strategy of Kolmar is to expand the mining complex. Construction of the underground Inaglinsky-1 coal mine was completed in 2020.[15] Construction of the Phase 2 of the underground mine (Inaglinsky-2 coal mine) is under way.
Coal from the Inaglinsky mining complex is exported via the VaninoTransUgol coal terminal, which is owned by Kolmar and began operating in 2020.[15] The terminal, together with the mines and the washing plant, completes the creation of the unified production and logistics complex. Coal exports are targeted at the Asian Pacific region, in particular at China and Japan. About 70% of coking coal shipments are to China.[15]
