Background on Mine

The Kakatiya Khani-5 Incline Underground coal mine has a designed capacity of 1.44 million-tonnes-per-annum capacity spread over 516.39 Ha.

The mine initially received its permission to operate with a capacity of 0.6 MTPA over an area of 208 Ha and further received an expansion to operate with a capacity of 1.44 MTPA on an area of 516.29 Ha. The Nevironment Clearance for the expansion project was received on 31 October 2008[3]

This project is part of the cluster of mines operated by SCCL in Bhupalpalli Area in Jayashanker Bhupalpalli district of Telangana State. The coal from this is primarily for the use of Kakatiya Power Station
