Background
The Karsdorf cement plant was originally a state-owned venture until 1989 when it was incorporated. In 1994, the plant was taken over by Lafarge Germany and, in 2015 through a transation between Lafarge and Holcim, Lafarge Germany became part of CRH group and was rebranded as Opterra. In 2022, Opterra was purchased by Thomas Group.
