Background

In 2022, owner Lafarge France announced investments into constructing a new production line at the Saint Pierre La Cour cement plant that will produce ECOPlanet cement made with calcined clay. Additionally, the plant utilizes biofuel waste as an alternative fuel for cement production and has worked with Fives Group on a hydrogen fuel pilot project which achieved a 50% hydrogen substitution rate. The plant was also the target of a group of over 200 environmental activists who occupied the cement plant as protest over pollution in 2022.
