Background on Mine
The Pench-Kanhan coalfield contains 13 underground and 7 surface mines in total, owned by Western Coalfields Limited (a subsidiary of state-owned Coal India).[4] Mines in the Pench valley include Newton, Chikli, Borkuhi, Ramanwara, Eklahera, Bamori, North Chandameta, Chandameta, East Dongar Chikli, Ambara Sukri, Datla and Shivpuri; mines in the Kanhan valley include Rakhikhol, Danwa, Kalichappar and Nandan.
