Background
The two existing coal-fired units of Gansu Huating power station, totaling 290 MW, were brought online between 2006 and 2007. [1]The plant is owned by Sinohydro, a subsidiary of PowerChina.
Description of Expansion
PowerChina is currently planning to build additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total planned capacity of 2,000 MW.[2][2][3][4][5][6]
In the "13th 5-year Energy Development Plan In Gansu Province" issued in September 2017, the project is set as a back-up supporting coal power plant for the Eastern Gansu UHV transmission line.[7]
However, there has been no developments on the units since the project feasibility study in 2014, and plans appear to be abandoned.
