Background

Yung-An LNG Terminal is the first LNG import terminal in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, owned by CPC Corporation. It began construction in 1984 and operating in 1990 with 1.5 mtpa capacity, and was expanded to 7.5 mtpa in 2002. As of July 2018 the terminal's receiving capacity was reported to be 10 mtpa.

There are 6 underground storage tanks at the terminal with three 100,000 cubic meters each, and three 130,000 cubic meters each.

A 1.8-mtpa expansion project, which includes three new storage tanks and related regasification facilities, was estimated to be completed by the end of 2026 and become operational by 2027. Construction began February 2021 according to GIIGNL. However, as of February 2024, no further news on the construction progress. It's considered still not yet entering construction.
