Background

İzmir Demir Çelik Sanayi A.Ş (İDÇ) is a Turkish steel company with a subsidiary İzdemir Enerji which operates İzdemir Enerji power station.

İDÇ was established in 1975, and the steel making plant began in 1987.

İDÇ Izdemir steel plant reportedly uses 100% scrap steel charge in its electric arc furnace.

İDÇ operates an on-site scrap yard with 200,000 tonne capacity.
