AKG-Ras Laffan Gas Pipeline, أنبوب غاز الخليج -رأس لفان is an operating natural gas gathering pipeline in Qatar.[1]
Location
The pipeline runs from the North Field in Persian Gulf to Ras Laffan Industrial City in Al Khor, Qatar.[1]
Background
The Al Khaleej Gas Facility was undertaken by ExxonMobil Middle East Gas Marketing Limited and is operated by Qatargas. Together, the facility's two trains meet 65% of Qatar's domestic demand.
First Phase of the Al Khaleej Gas Project, AKG-1, commenced on 2 November 2005 and sold its first gas just five days later. To transport the gas to shore, two 38-inch multi-phase subsea pipelines have been laid to Ras Laffan, each capable of carrying approximately 2 billion standard cubic feet per day (Bscfd) of wet gas.
The second phase of the project, AKG-2, was completed in December 2009. AKG-2 has an inlet capacity of approximately 1,500 Mmscfd and is fed from two new 9-slot offshore platforms via 28-inch interfield pipelines that tie into the existing offshore 38-inch pipeline infrastructure.[1][2]
