Thermal power stations
As of January 2012, the APGENCO website lists six thermal power stations:[2]
- Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (and two others - KTPP and Kothagudem V Stage - that appear related to this station)
- Ramagundam B TPS
- Rayalaseema Thermal Power Station
- Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (also known as Dr. NTTPS)
Proposed coal-fired power station projects
On its website Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation identifies possible additional coal-fired power stations as being the:
- Rayalaseema Thermal Power Project Stage-III (Unit 5), a 210 megawatt (MW) coal plant proposed by Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO) in Andhra Pradesh.[citation needed]
- Sattupally Thermal Power Station, a 600 megawatt plant. However, the proposal may have difficulties sourcing sufficient water supplies. On its website APGENCO notes that the "Irrigation Department informed that it may not possible to allocate water from Bolligattu reservoir. Alternative source of water is being identified."[3]
- Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (IGCC), a 182 MW plant. APGENCO notes that it has sought equity support from the government of Andhra Pradesh and that "approval is awaited."[4]
- Vadarevu Thermal Power Project, a proposed 1600MW plant which APGENCO states has received approval from the government of Andhra Pradesh. The utility states that Power Finance Corporation "has agreed in principle to provide loan for Stage-I." [5]
