Background

In January 2024, LNG Prime reported that China's Wison had been contracted to build two 3-mpta floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) export vessels for use offshore Nigeria in separate projects developed by Transoceanic Gas & Power and Ace Gas & FLNG Co Ltd (a subsidiary of Transoceanic). Ace Gas's project will be development offshore Escravos and Transoceanic's project will be developed offshore Pennington. Wison has begun pre-FEED studies for these vessels, which will produce 3 mtpa LNG as well as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).[1]

The project is designed to supply 3 mtpa of LNG to the international market, 150,000 metric tons per year of LPG to the domestic market, 25,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) of condensates, and 75,000 MT/yr of propane. Ace Gas said that the project will also include a floating power barge. The upstream gathering facilities will be managed by Samsung Heavy Industries Nigeria and the power and compression systems will be managed by Siemens Energy. Ace Gas said that Socar, Vitol, and Karepowership have expressed interest in offtaking gas from the project.[1]

According to Ace Gas, the project has private equity backing, and Quantum Suisse will provide financing for upstream development.[1]
