Background

Construction of the new plant was included into the "2035 Electric Power Industry Development Plan" released by the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan in February 2024. The project will be implemented through auction bidding.[1][2] In July 2024, the construction of Unit 1 was listed in the "National Infrastructure Plan of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2029". According to the document, the project will be implemented in 2025-2028. The cost of the project is estimated at KZT 340 billion.[3] An auction for the construction of the unit took place in August 2024.[4]
