Background

The Al-Faw Port FSRU will be "a fixed platform for processing imported gas" that will "help ensure a reliable electricity supply to Iraq."[3] As of November 2023, the Iraqui government had "allocated US$1.5 billion for the project, which is expected to be financed by public and private funds."[3] The platform is expected to be finished by 2026, but no detailed information has yet been disclosed regarding ownership and investments.[4]
