Background
The Alpagut Dodurga coal mine is a surface mine, operated by Çelikler Taahhüt İnşaat ve San. Tic., a subsidiary of Çelikler Holding, with a capacity of 0.3 million tonnes per annum, near Corum, Turkey.[1] The mine is owned by TKI, a public coal company, and is leased to Çelikler İnşaat.[2] Çelikler Taahhüt İnşaat ve San. Tic., a susidary of Çelikler Holding, operates the mine on a lease from Turkish Coal Enterprises or TKI, a publicly owned coal company.[2]
The mine started operations in 1962, when Alpagut-Dodurga Linyitleri İşletmesi (Alpagut-Dodurga Lignite Enterprise) or ADL was founded as a subsidiary of TKI.[3] In July 2002 ADL was one six TKİ subsidiaries that were shut down because of long term unprofitability and financial loss.[4] The same year, the Alpagut-Dodurga mine was privatized, with the operating rights awarded to Çelikler Holding.[5]
According to Çelikler Holding's website the mine produces 0.3 million tons annually.
