Background

In 2022, Ambuja Cements announced its plan to expand the capacity of Farakka cement plant from 1.25 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 3 mtpa by installation of a new Vertical Rolling Mill (VRM).[1][2] The project is expected to get commissioned by the end of FY2026. As of May 2024, 40% of the civil work for the project was completed.[3]
