Background
Ambuja Cement Sankrail Grinding unit was commissioned in the year 2001 with a grinding capacity of 1.2 million tonne per annum (mtpa). This included 2 ball mills of capacity 92 tonnes per hour (tph), 2 packers of capacity 180 tph, and a manual wagon loading system. The plant capacity was increased to 1.5 mtpa in the year 2010 and to 2.4 mtpa by 2016 with the installation of Thyssenkrupp Roller pressure of capacity 140 tph in Cement mill 1 increasing the capacity to 235 tph in combo grinding, 2 additional Packers of capacity 240 tph mechanised cement rake loading system.[1]
The company has proposed further expansion of the plant capacity from 2.4 mtpa to 4 mtpa in 2022.[2] The project is expected to get commissioned by the end of FY2026. As of May 2024, 40% of the civil work for the project was completed.[3]
