The Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO) Ltd is the power generation company established by the Andhra Pradesh government in 1999 as a part of the separation of the roles of generations, transmission and distribution previously done by the Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board.[1]

Thermal power stations

As of January 2012, the APGENCO website lists six thermal power stations:[2]

Proposed coal-fired power station projects

On its website Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation identifies possible additional coal-fired power stations as being the:

  • Sattupally Thermal Power Station, a 600 megawatt plant. However, the proposal may have difficulties sourcing sufficient water supplies. On its website APGENCO notes that the "Irrigation Department informed that it may not possible to allocate water from Bolligattu reservoir. Alternative source of water is being identified."[3]
