Background

Argent LNG Terminal is a proposed LNG export terminal in Port Fourchon, Louisiana, with two 10-mtpa phases planned.[1] The first phase has an estimated cost of US$10 billion and is planned to come online in 2029 or 2030.[1][2] According to the project's site, "Argent LNG will supply fuel to power generation assets across Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe, South America, the Caribbean, and the MENA region, prioritizing reliable energy supply to allied nations across the Americas."[1] Construction for Phase 1 is expected to begin in 2026.[3]

In June 2024, Argent LNG signed a long-term lease with the Greater Lafourche Port Commission, taking over a site that had previously been leased by Energy World for the development of Fourchon LNG Terminal.[4][5] Fourchon LNG Terminal was removed by the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) from its pre-filing process in December 2023 due to a lack of activity.[5]

Also in June 2024, Argent LNG announced that it had selected Worley as its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the project.[6]
