Background

The project was announced in September 2019 as part of a development that will include the gas-fired 3,200-MW Bac Lieu Project power station.[3]

Delta Offshore LNG (DeltaOE) is developing the Bac Lieu LNG-to-power project, which consists of a 2 MTPA floating LNG import terminal and a 3.2 GW combined-cycle power plant in the Mekong Delta, Bac Lieu, Vietnam.[4]

As of May 2023, the project was targeting 2024 for the start of construction.[5]

In August 2023, The Investor reported that the project was facing bottlenecks, including "a power purchase agreement that has not been finalized after several negotiation rounds and government guarantees for the project."[2]
