Background

The Port of Banjarmasin is located in different parts of the city, situated on the edge of the Barito River, approx. 20 miles from the river mouth.[1] Commodities exported include coal, gum jelatung (dammar gum), rattan, tallow, wood, skin gemor, seeds in large quantities and containers. The Port of Banjarmasin is Kalimantan’s most important river port, and it is the gateway to Central and South Kalimantan. The Trisakti terminal is the trade center for the basin, and it handles exports that include coal.[2] Taboneo anchorage handles a substantial volume of geared/non-geared bulk carriers loading coal.[1][3]

According to an industry report from early 2023, Banjarmasin jointly with the Taboneo anchorage was the top coal export terminal in 2022, exporting 78.1 million tonnes.[4] In 2023, Banjamarsin jointly with Taboneo anchorage loaded 94.8 million tonnes.[5]
