Bankura Concast power station

The Bankura Concast power station is a 20.5 megawatt power station being planned by Concast Bengal Industries. Concast Bengal Industries, a subsidiary of the Indian steel producer CONCAST, is proposing to build a new steel mill and power station at Bankura in West Bengal, India.

Background

The proposed power station will use waste flue gases from the steel mill and unspecified "solid waste" to generate power for "captive use".^[1] However, Concast Bengal Industries also claims that the power plant will "make a valuable contribution to the power scenario of West Bengal" and "light up a million lives".^[2] Platts list the project as a coal-fired project.^[3]
