Background
The five existing coal-fired units of Huaneng Baotou-1 power station, units 7-11 totaling 950 MW, were brought online in 2005 to 2008. The plant's first seven units (Units 0-6) were commissioned in 1961 and retired from 2006 to 2009. The plant is owned by China Huaneng.[1] Unit 7 was retired in 2018.[2]
Description of Expansion
According to a World Resources Institute report (2012), Huaneng is planning to build additional coal-fired units at this plant, units 12-13, with a total planned capacity of 1,200 MW.[3]
However, there appear to be no other sources verifying this proposal, which may have been cancelled.
