Project details

Background

In 2020, the Barents Sea pipeline was considered for development, with a route that will connect the Askeladd fields and other gas reserves in the Barents Sea with existing pipeline infrastructure, at the Asgard transport pipeline (1000 km) or the with the Polarled pipeline (820km).[3] Gassco and Rystad Energy collaborated to complete a feasibility assessment for the project, determining the project would be profitable if an additional 40bcm of gas was discovered on the continental shelf.[4]

However, no additional progress has been made on this project, and with the final investment decision being taken on an alternative pipeline (Barents Sea Pipeline), this project is assumed to be shelved.
