Batangas Bay power station is a proposed 300-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station by Magellan Utilities Dev Corp. (MUDC) for Batangas Bay, the Philippines.

Background on Plant

The station is planned for the south shore of Batangas Bay, and will sell power to Manila Electric Company (MERALCO). The project is expected to start commercial operation after a three year construction period, planned to begin in 1998.

F & J Prince Holdings Corporation reports that it is a holding company whose holdings include Magellan Capital Holdings Corporation (MCHC). According to a report on the F & J Prince Holdings Corporation website, the Batangas Bay power station has been shelved:

Magellan Utilities Development Corporation (MUDC) is an MCHC project company developing a 320 MW Power Project in Pinamucan, Batangas. MCHC directly owns 43% of MUDC. GPU Power Philippines, Inc., a unit of GPU Corporation (GPU), former U.S. parent company of the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), owns 40% of MUDC. The MUDC project has been shelved due to problems perfecting its power supply agreement with Meralco.

With no further developments after two years, the project appears to be abandoned.
