Background
In 2015, the first unit came online.[10]
In August 2017, Dhaka Tribune reported that the Power Development Board (PDB) had signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Nutan Bidyut Bangladesh Limited on Monday to set up a 220 MW power plant in Bhola.[11] The combined-cycle power plant was expected to be an independent power producer which will sell electricity to PDB for 22 years. Authorities estimated that the plant would supply the national grid by December 2019.[11] The plant will produce 220 MW using natural gas and 212 MW with diesel in case there is a gas shortage.[11]
In 2021, the second unit came online.[12]
