Background

PSNC Energy, a subsidiary of SANCA, is finalizing the route of a 12-mile-long natural gas pipeline that will be run from Arden to Enka, North Carolina. The Company began surveying activities in 2018 and anticipates it will begin construction in late 2020. This project will upgrade the Buncombe County natural gas system in compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation regulations.[5] PSNC was acquired by Dominion Energy in January 2019.[3] Dominion Energy announced in November 2020 that the construction of the pipeline will begin in December 2020 and begin service in a year.[3]

The project received pushback from environmental advocates.[6]

The project is presumed delayed. An application by Dominion Energy to construct the natural gas pipeline under the Blue Ridge Parkway in Buncombe County was approved in December 2022.[7][4] The construction of the project is expected to be complete in the second quarter of 2023.[4]
