Background
The San Luis Potosí power station is one of several new combined cycle power projects initiated during the six-year term of Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (2018-2024).
Official government estimates of the plant's capacity have ranged from 424 MW[11] to 437.2 MW[12][13] to 455.43 MW[12] to 469.786 MW.[13]
Construction got underway in September 2021 and was expected to be completed by April 2024.[12][13] The project was said to be 92.58% complete as of Dec 31, 2023[12], and 99.51% complete by September 2024.[13]
As of September 2024, the plant was reportedly nearing the start of test operations, with full commercial operations to follow at an unspecified date thereafter.[13]
