Background

The Chadansky (or Chadan) Coal Mine (Чаданский разрез) is an operating surface coal mine in Tuva Republic, Russia. The Chadansky coal mine is owned and operated by Tuva Mining Company, which is believed to be part of Vostsibugol as it was listed on its website.[3][4] In turn Vostisubugol is a subsidiary of En+ Group.[5]

However another source stated that the company is owned by Cyprus-registered Vukelich Limited[6][7] and Vostsibugol is only the manager of the coal mines. [8]

Tuva Mining Company also operates Kaa-Khemsky coal mine, joint production of the two mines in 2020 was 0.536 million tonnes.[9] The two mines are the only coal supplier in the Republic of Tuva.[10] Information on production is limited, but a media source from December 2022 reported that production of the two mines is about 0.5 million tonnes.[11]

In 2019, the mine proposed an expansion up to 0.35 million tonnes.[12] As of August 2023, with no updates on the project, it is considered Shelved.
