Background
The Chernihiv-Yuzhniy-Lutuginsky coal project (участки шахты Черниговская, Южный, Лутугинский) is a proposed underground mine in Kemerovo Oblast, Russia. The mine project is developed by SDS UGOL, a subsidiary of Siberian Business Union-Coal (SBU) and is set to produce 2.7 million tonnes.
The underground mine project is mentioned in the Russian Government's 'Programme for Coal Industry Development up to 2035' and is set to produce 2.7 mtpa.[1]
There are no news on this underground mine project, but some news on the progress of the surface mine in the same location Glushinsky coal mine, which could indicate that the plans for the underground mine have been abandoned.
In September 2022, the governor of Kuzbass said that new mine projects are on hold due to infrastructure restrictions of coal exports through the Eastern route of Russian Railways, only the projects that are nearing completion are being finished.[2]
