Background

Chettinad Cement was established in 1962 and operates seven manufacturing units across India.[1]

Chettinad Cement Karikkali Cement Plant was established in 2001 at a capacity of 0.9 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).[2][3][4] A 15MW Coal based Captive Power Plant commissioned in 12 Months at Karikkali in 2004.[5] In 2008, it added a second cement grinding unit to raise the plant’s capacity to 1.37 mtpa. In 2010–11, a second line with a 1.80 mtpa capacity was put into service, now in 2024 bringing the total capacity to 3.5 mtpa.[3]
