Background
The Chifeng Waste Coal power station was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission on September 25, 2006, with construction beginning in May 2007. It began operating in 2008. The project's total investment was 1.6 billion RMB.[1] The plant's hazard and occupational safety controls were then approved in 2009.[2] The plant currently supplies electricity to Liaoning and eastern Inner Mongolia, and heating to the Chifeng urban area.[3]
A second phase for the plant, consisting of 2×350MW units was planned, yet there have been no updates on this expansion since 2019.[3]
