Background
Chilwavhusiku Coal Mine is an underground mine in Bronkhorstspruit, Gauteng, South Africa.[1]
The mine is also South Africa's first fully black-owned mine.[2]
According to a 2021 report, the Chilwavhusiku coal mine planned to continue operating until September 2021.[3] However, as there have been no recent public updates, the mine's closure cannot be confirmed. The Chilwavhusiku mine is owned by Black Royalty Minerals, a subsidiary of the Makole Group, and is operated by Stefanutti Stocks.[1]
