Coal-Mac Mine
The Coal-Mac Mine is an underground and surface coal mining operation in Logan and Mingo County, West Virginia, owned by Arch Coal.[1] It is part of Arch Coal's Central Appalachia mining region, which sold 14.6 million tons of coal in 2008.[2]
Lawsuit
Surface mines at the Coal-Mac mining complex have been identified in a lawsuit brought by the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, as having been granted Clean Water Act §404 permits by the Army Corps of Engineers allegedly in violation of the Clean Water Act and the National Environmental Policy Act.[3]
