The D. E. Shaw Group describes itself as a "a global investment and technology development firm".[1]
In October 2006, it was announced that the D. E. Shaw Group had agreed to finance the Cash Creek Generation project[2], a proposed coal plant in Henderson County, Kentucky. [3]
