Background
In April 2023, it was reported that the project had been delayed due to the sanctions, and extraction of the first oil at the D33 Oil Field was expected to begin in 2025.[8]
In April 2024, the construction of the offshore pipeline connecting the offshore oil platform D33 to Kulikovo (D3-Kulikovo Oil Pipeline) was ongoing.[7] Additionally, a section of the pipeline would be built from the shore near Kulikovo to the Romanovo oil gathering point (Kulikovo-Romanovo Oil Pipeline). This section would be around 6 km long.[3] The construction of the pipeline commenced in 2022 and was still i progress in 2024.[10][11][2]
The project also includes a reconstruction of the existing pipeline from the Romanovo oil gathering point to Lukoil oil terminal (Romanovo-Lukoil KNT Oil Pipeline).[12] This involves constructing a new 30-kilometer pipeline 1 meter underground.[4][13][3] As of May 2024, the reconstruction of the the Romanovo-Lukoil KNT Oi Pipeline was ongoing.[10]
Environment and social impacts
Residents of Kulikovo raised concerns about the company blocking off the bike path in the area. The company responded that this was part of the planned work connected to the construction of the pipeline that has commenced (segment II).[11][2][14]
