Background

A EPC contract between the Huanqiu Company and Zhejiang Junan Energy to build the terminal was signed in June 2018.

Taizhou Yuhuan city Government and Shenergy Group signed a cooperation agreement on the Zhejiang Yuhuan Damaiyu LNG terminal project on September 30, 2020. The construction date was set at the end of 2020, and is expected to operation in 2022.

The total investment will be 5.4 billion yuan ($827 million), including the LNG terminal and the supporting pipelines. The receiving capacity is 2 mtpa for the first phase.

The construction reportedly began in October 2021.

On July 27, 2022, the local TV Station reported that the two 100,000-cubic-meter-storage tanks at site had 80% completed. The proposed third storage tank of 200,000 cubic meters appeared not enter construction.

By January 2023, there is no operating news can be heard.

In May 2023, the local news report says the construction is half way done. The completion is set at the end of 2024.
