Background

In January 2020, the mayor of Dandong, Zhang Shuping, addressed the 16th People's Congress of Dandong City. In the session of the major task of 2020, she mentioned an LNG terminal project and its supporting facilities with a total investment of 3.5 billion yuan. No further explanation was given about it.

In December 2021, a LNG terminal project appeared in Dandong City's 14th Five-Year Plan on comprehensive transportation development. No details were disclosed. The terminal was also mentioned without additional detail in The Three-Year Action Plan For the High-Quality Development of the Coastal Economic Belt in Dandong City.

One possible location for the LNG terminal could be Donggang Port in Dandong.

Given the same reason that the National Energy Administration rejected the suggestion developing Suizhong LNG terminal, Dandong LNG terminal is also likely shelved.
