Background
The Devnya cement plant was purchased by Italcementi in 1998, which was later purchased by Heidelberg Materials in 2016. The plant began construction of a carbon capture pilot unit in 2023, which will undertake a pilot program for 12-24 months post commissioning. The ANRAV capture system will use OxyCal oxygen-enriched burner technology to 800,000 tonnes per year of CO2 from 3 million tonnes of plant flue emissions.
