Diantou power station (陕煤集团黄陵矿业店头发电厂) is an operating power station of at least 1320-megawatts (MW) in Diantou Town, Huangling, Yan'an, Shaanxi, China with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating. It is also known as 陕煤黄陵店头电厂二期2×1000MW机组扩建项目 (Phase II Unit 3 & 4).

Background on Project
Huangling Coal Mining applied for environmental clearance to build a 2 x 660 MW coal plant in Huangling.[3] The EIA of the power plant was approved by the Shaanxi provincial EPA in September 2016.[4]
There were no further developments on the project until March 2019, when sponsor Huangling Coal Mining again discussed plans for the project.[5] As of March 2020 Huangling Coal Mining had completed the pre-feasibility study and was seeking environmental clearance.[6] The project was permitted in March 2020, with operation planned for 2023.[7][8]
Construction began on unit 1 in May 2021.[9] Unit 2 also appeared to be underway.
By October 2022, a second 2 x 1,000 MW phase was permitted. The first phase was still under construction.[10]
In May 2023, it was reported that construction of the first phase was nearly complete.[11] By the end of the same month, Unit 1 had begun operation.[12] In June 2023, Unit 2 also successfully connected to the grid and began operating.[13][14][15]
