Background

Dodds Coal Mine (also known as Ryley mine) is a 0.075-million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) coal mine in the province of Alberta, Canada. Since 1956, when Mr. & Mrs. Nordby became owners of Dodds Coal Mining Company, Dodds Coal Mine has been family owned and operated. Their family still owns and operates the current mine operation and are also responsible for the reclamation project of the original mine site into Coal Creek Golf Resort. The current site of Coal Creek Golf Resort has had coal mining activity since the turn of the 19th century. This activity has left “scars” from the early mining practices.[3]

Dodds supplies heating coal for residential, commercial, and agricultural applications throughout western Canada.[4]
