Background

Dorogobuzhskaya CHPP is the oldest thermal power plant in the Smolensk region. It is the main source of heat supply for the village of Verkhnedneprovsky, and also supplies electricity and power to the WECM and heat energy to the city of Dorogobuzh.

The plant also includes Unit 1 with 18MW, Unit 5 and 6 with 6MW each.[5]

The main equipment is steam boilers PK-20, PK-14-2, BKZ-220-100F, steam turbines R-18-90 / 2.5, PT-60-90 / 13, gas turbine GTA-6 RM and boiler utilizer KUP-20-1,3-300.[6]

According to the Russian Ministry of Energy 2024-2029 energy program released in November 2023, units 1, 4 and 6 will be retired in 2023.[7][8] Following the retirement of the three units, the current installed capacity of the power station will be 6 MW.
